Thankfully, many of the former jammer's like the acclaimed Scooby Doo
(Passed March 26, 2008) Plant City, Florida, Whiskey Man (Passed), Lightning Rod
(Passed),
King Kong (Passed October 13, 2007), Bubble Gum Bandit (off the air), Dixie
(Joined Ham Radio then Ran Off), Falcon (Now in a Nursing Home), Westside Warrior, Shadow
(Passed December 17, 2009) and others are slowly passing away, or discovering another
pastime and the Citizens Band Radio in my area is slowly returning to
normal.
Originally, there were only 23 CB channels in the US, the
present 40-channel band plan did not come along until 1977. Channel 9 was
reserved for emergency use in 1969. Channel 10 was used for traffic
advisory, later channel 19 became the preferred traffic advisory channel
since it did not have adjacent-channel interference problems with channel 9.
Meanwhile, many truckers and motorist who once used
channel 19 for traffic advisory or just to pass the time now use another
channel while in most major cities to avoid these malcontents. Free band is
another popularly place motorist like to hide to avoid these malcontents.
In more recent years, CB Radio has lost much of its original appeal
due to the advancement of technologies and changing values. Some of this
rapid development includes: cell phones, Cyberspace, GPS Navigation, General Mobile Radio
Service, Family Radio Service, and Amateur Radio.
These days, I can be found on Yahoo Messenger, Skype Video Chat,
