Introduction:
I like to point out something that many newcomers to Cyberspace are not
aware of; If you have never used a BBS before, or since the early days of
telecommunications, You will be pleasantly surprised. We have come a long
way since then! Many of the local BBS's are now on the Internet By way of
Telnet. Now most offer users support that is very hard to beat, plus some
local flavor. Plus a few are still FREE!
BBS's today can offer full Internet E-Mail, POP3, Multi-lines, Teleconferences, Newsgroups,
Chat Rooms, IRC, File Libraries, Sharing of MP3's files, Online Games, and Full Web Access, Along
with a multitude of other services you just can't get from the Big
boy's. For More Detailed Information on BBS's

Network Listings:
The
Fidonet
BBS Network system is the world's largest Bulletin Board System (BBS) mail
network. This is a non-profit network is operated solely by its participating
members, mainly BBS System Operators who run their BBS as a hobby. Originally,
the network used a structure via the regular dial-up telephone network where one
node can dial any other node in the Fidonet network to transfer "packets" of
Electronic Mail, Message Forums, Shareware Files, or Inter-BBS door game data.
In more recent years, this has been amended to use the Internet with special
software to allow systems to transfer these packets via Internet E-mail, Telnet
and File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Some even utilize satellite retrieval systems.
All to keep the mail flowing all over the world. Some hobby isn't it?
Currently there are over 20,000+ nodes (members) in Fidonet
worldwide. The glue that binds Fidonet into a network is its mutually agreed to
network management and topology (structure). A file named NODELIST.xxx
contains all the information (structure & topology) required to communicate in
the network. This file serves at the network's "phone book". It is updated on a
weekly basis.

Politically Incorrect Net
Style: FTN (Fidonet), QWK The Politically Incorrect Net is a mail network
dedicated to politics, both correct and otherwise. While many mail networks have
a few conferences for discussing politics, the entire idea behind The
Politically Incorrect Net is to discuss issues that have always been, or
suddenly become political.

BBS Software Support Links
BBSDOCUMENTARY.COM, a support website for an
all-inclusive
BBS Documentary being filmed by Jason Scott. This site has all of the
pitch, information, research and interview information related to the
project. Since the subject is SO big and SO wide-reaching, I made the
decision that putting everything up on the web for people to read and
correct/improve would be good for the entire project.
Why are you reading the comments? Probably because you're the kind of
person who cares about details, who likes to find little surprises in
code or chuckle at finding a long-forgotten epic tale buried in piles
of dusty 5 1/4" floppies. You're my kind of person. Glad to meet you
Jason Scott.
